Varial Kickflip
A mix of a Pop Shuvit and a Kickflip.
The Varial Kickflip combines the backside 180-degree rotation of a Pop Shuvit with the lengthwise rotation of a Kickflip. It is often one of the first combination flip tricks that skaters learn.

🎯 Combine your flips and spins!
This guide will break down how to coordinate the scoop and the flick to land your first Varial Kickflip.
👟 Foot Positioning
1. Front Foot Position
Your front foot should be in a kickflip position, angled behind the front bolts.
2. Back Foot Position
Your back foot should be in a pop shuvit position, in the toe-side pocket of the tail, ready to scoop.

Scoop and Flick
Pop the tail and scoop it like a pop shuvit while simultaneously flicking your front foot like a kickflip.
Wait and Watch
The board will rotate and flip at the same time. Keep your feet up and watch for the griptape to come around.
Catch and Land
Catch the board with your feet over the bolts and land.
Golden Tip!
Focus more on the pop shuvit motion. The kickflip part should be a light, guiding flick rather than a powerful kick.
⚠️ Common Mistakes
Board only does a shuvit (no flip): You need to add the kickflip flick.
Board only does a kickflip (no shuvit): You need to add the shuvit scoop.
