Impossible

Difficulty Level: AdvancedCenter

The Wrapping Trick

Invented by Rodney Mullen, the Impossible is a trick where the board wraps vertically around the back foot. It is not a flip or a spin in the traditional sense, but a unique scooping motion that makes the board perform a 360-degree rotation along its vertical axis.

🎯 Do the Impossible

The Impossible is a classic, almost mythical trick. Mastering it is a true sign of dedication and board control. It is a trick that will always command respect.

👟 Foot Positioning

1. Front Foot Position

Your front foot is placed further back than usual, near the middle of the board, to get it out of the way.

2. Back Foot Position

Your back foot is almost covering the entire tail, with your toes slightly hanging off. This is crucial for the wrapping motion.

1

Pop and Scoop

Pop the tail down and immediately start scooping it forward and upward with your back foot.

2

Wrap

Let the board wrap around your back foot. Your foot acts as the pivot point for the rotation.

3

Guide and Land

As the board comes around full circle, guide it back under you and place your front foot back on. Land on the bolts.

💡

Golden Tip!

The entire trick is in the back foot. It is not a pop and jump, but a pop and scoop. The board should feel like it is stuck to your back foot throughout the rotation.

⚠️ Common Mistakes

⚠️

Board just pops up without wrapping: You are popping too much like an ollie. Focus on the scooping motion.

⚠️

Board flies away from you: The scoop might be too aggressive or not directed properly. It should be a smooth, upward motion.

⚠️

Losing balance: Stay centered and compact. Let your back foot do all the work.
