Frontside 180 Heelflip
The Stylish Turn and Heel
The Frontside 180 Heelflip combines a frontside 180-degree ollie with a heelflip. It is known for its stylish, flowing look, but can be challenging to control due to the opposite motions of the body turn and the heel flick.

1. Shoulder Wind-Up
Most of this trick is in the shoulders. Start by winding your shoulders up like you would for a frontside 180, leaning in to prepare for the rotation.
2. The 90-Degree Pop and Scoop
As your shoulders reach the 90-degree point of the turn, pop your tail and scoop it frontside. Your legs will naturally follow your shoulders, initiating the board’s rotation.
3. Flick at the Pocket
The timing of the flick is crucial. As the board starts to rotate (around 20 degrees), aim to flick off the pocket of the nose. This makes the flip more fluid as it happens while the board is already spinning.
4. Land on the Front Foot and Pivot
Keep your weight on your front foot. Your front foot will likely land first. Use this weight to pivot the rest of the 180 if you come up short. This control is key for doing the trick on various obstacles.
Golden Tip!
The trick is all in the shoulders and timing. Wind up your shoulders, and as they hit 90 degrees, pop and scoop. The flick comes slightly after, aiming for the nose pocket as the board is already rotating.
⚠️ Common Mistakes
Board doesn't flip: Your flick timing is off. You need to flick slightly after the pop, once the board has started its rotation.
Board doesn't rotate 180: You are not winding up your shoulders enough. The rotation of your shoulders dictates the board's rotation.
Losing control on landing: Keep your weight on your front foot. Landing with your weight on the front foot first helps you control the final pivot.
