Fakie Ollie

Difficulty Level: BeginnerTail

An ollie while riding backwards.

Riding 'fakie' just means you're rolling backwards on your board, but your feet are still in their normal ollie position. A Fakie Ollie is simply doing a regular ollie while you're moving in reverse. Your BACK foot still pops the TAIL, just like a normal ollie!

🎯 Mastering control in reverse!

Learning the Fakie Ollie is crucial for developing board control and opens the door to many fakie and switch tricks.

👟 Foot Positioning

Front Foot (Sliding Foot)

Your front foot is in the middle of the board, maybe a little further back than a regular ollie, to help with the slide.

Back Foot (Popping Foot)

Your back foot is on the very tip of the tail, ready to pop straight down.

📈 Detailed Fakie Ollie Execution

Loading...

1

Roll Fakie

Start by rolling backwards at a comfortable, slow speed. Look over your shoulder in the direction you are moving.

2

Pop

Pop the tail straight down with your back foot and jump. The motion is identical to a regular ollie.

3

Slide

As you jump, slide your front foot forward towards the nose to level the board out.

4

Land

Try to land with your feet over the bolts to have the most control, and continue rolling fakie.

💡

Golden Tip!

The absolute key is to keep your shoulders parallel with your board the entire time. If you open your shoulders, the board will turn.

⚠️ Common Mistakes

⚠️

Board turns frontside or backside: This is almost always because you are turning your shoulders. Keep them straight!

⚠️

Not getting enough height: Make sure you are actually jumping and bringing your knees up.

⚠️

Losing balance: Get very comfortable just riding around fakie before you start trying to pop.
