Dolphin Flip

Difficulty Level: AdvancedCenter

The Forward Flip

A Dolphin Flip, also known as a Forward Flip, is a trick where the board flips end over end, similar to a Varial Kickflip, but with the flick happening straight off the nose. This causes the board to have a distinct, dolphin-like arching motion.

🎯 Make a Splash

The Dolphin Flip is a unique and stylish variation of a flip trick. It is not as common as other flips, so landing one will definitely make you stand out.

👟 Foot Positioning

1. Front Foot Position

Your front foot is placed straight on the board, just behind the front bolts, with your toes pointing forward.

2. Back Foot Position

Your back foot is in a varial kickflip position, ready to scoop the board.

1

Pop and Scoop

Pop the tail and scoop it slightly like a varial kickflip.

2

Forward Flick

Instead of flicking off the side, slide your front foot straight up the middle of the board and push it forward off the nose.

3

Catch and Land

The board will make an arching flip in front of you. Jump forward a bit, catch it with your feet, and land.

💡

Golden Tip!

The key is the front foot motion. It is not a flick to the side, but a push forward. Think about pushing the nose of the board down and away from you.

⚠️ Common Mistakes

⚠️

Board doing a varial kickflip instead: You are flicking to the side. Focus on the forward push.

⚠️

Board doesn't flip properly: Make sure your front foot slides up the center of the board.

⚠️

Board gets too far in front of you: Jump forward with the trick.
