Boardslide
Sliding with the center of your board.
The boardslide is a popular slide trick where you ollie onto a rail or ledge and slide with the middle of your board locked on the obstacle. It's a stylish and fundamental sliding trick.

Learn the proper ollie technique and body rotation to land in a boardslide and ride away clean.
👟 Foot Positioning
1. Front Foot Position
Place your front foot just behind the front bolts, not too far forward (to avoid your foot sliding off the nose). Keep your weight centered on the board, with toes not hanging over the edge.

2. Back Foot Position
Place your back foot on the tail in the CENTER - not too far on the tip (you'll miss the pop), not too deep in the pocket (your heel can hit the ground). You should be able to see some grip tape around your shoe. Your weight should push down in the center to keep the board level.

Approach and Angle
Approach with good speed (faster is better for sliding). Start at a slight angle when learning (easier to ollie on), but work towards going parallel to the rail (less friction, slides better). Get close to the rail before you pop. Look at where you're going to land on the rail.
Ollie and Get On
Pop a light ollie - just high enough to get your front wheels over the rail (not too high or you'll create friction landing on it). Turn almost 90 degrees, letting it naturally complete the turn. Keep your SHOULDERS facing forward (direction of travel) while only your LEGS turn. Lean forward slightly - it's safer (you can catch yourself with hands if you stick).
Slide with Proper Weight
Keep MORE WEIGHT on your BACK FOOT (this is crucial). Have the rail in the center of your board, slightly more towards your back foot. Bend your knees slightly for more control and safety. Stand relatively straight up but not stiff. Shift your eyes to look towards the END of the rail. Keep your board perpendicular to the rail (don't overturn or you'll have trouble getting out).
Exit and Land
PUSH OUT with your back foot (with toe slightly hanging off) - this lifts your front wheels and helps you come off the rail. Your body naturally wants to turn back to face the direction your torso is facing. Land on back wheels first, then front wheels. You can give a little tic-tac motion if needed to clear the rail.
Golden Tip!
Keep MORE weight on your BACK FOOT - this is the most important thing for boardslides. Keep your SHOULDERS facing forward (direction of travel) and only turn your LEGS. Push out with your back foot to exit the rail.
⚠️ Common Mistakes
Back foot too far on tip or in pocket: Pop from the CENTER of the tail.
Front foot too far forward: Keep it behind the front bolts or your foot will slide off.
Leaning back: This makes you slip out. Lean FORWARD instead - it's safer.
Overturning the board: Only turn about 90°, don't go past perpendicular to the rail.
Too much weight on front foot: Keep MORE weight on your BACK foot.
Shoulders turning with legs: Keep shoulders facing forward, only turn your legs.
Going too slow: Speed helps you slide better and gives you more control.
